Ecotourism in Singayta, Mexico

Sinagayta, Mexico

Singayta is located about 5 miles from San Blas in the state of Nayarit.  Long known for its birdwatching, Singayta is now open for ecotourism in general, with horses for rent, bicycles, boat rides and tours of the traditional village and surrounding wildlife.  If you are planning a trip to Nayarit, don't miss this unique opportunity to get to know the local village people and let them share their unique natural environment with you.

Traditionally the community gained much of its income from the sales of palmas to make palapas.  Devastated by Hurricane Kenna in October 2002 and the fires that followed, the community, with the help of the environmental group El Manglar, sought other means of support.   The Global Greengrants Fund made a generous contribution to support this effort.  Click here to read the report in English.  Haz click aqui por Espaņol.
